This newly purchased Victorian terrace needed a complete overhaul—and quickly—to transform it into a home the owner could move into.
By carefully reworking the existing layout and adding a side-return extension, enough space was unlocked to provide a utility room and WC, alongside a light-filled kitchen-diner with an informal lounge area. The extension was deliberately kept in proportion to the rear garden, giving the client valuable additional living space without sacrificing their outdoor space. Large glazed doors at the rear and a contemporary roof-light in the extension strengthen the connection between inside and out, allowing the garden to feel like another room in the warmer months.
Upstairs, a surplus bedroom was transformed into an additional bathroom, while a series of small but effective layout changes made the rest of the house work harder. The result is a characterful, carefully planned home shaped around the client's exact needs.
The house was also comprehensively upgraded, with new glazing throughout and targeted improvements to its thermal performance. The ground floor was renewed to incorporate underfloor heating, creating a warmer, more comfortable and energy-efficient home.
